Introducing
Kathi Holzer
After retiring from a long, fulfilling career in physical education, I unexpectedly discovered a deep love for art and an urge to create it myself. It must have been immediately apparent because my husband happily added onto our outdoor patio and fashioned a studio for me. Painting and drawing became my new passion.
I'm now following a path that brings me so much joy and fulfillment. It is truly a new world for me, and I can't imagine missing a day in that world's endless possibilities for my art.
artist statement
After spending 32 years dedicated to shaping the minds and bodies of countless students as a physical education teacher and coach, I embarked on a new chapter at the age of 60 by pursuing the idea of art. During my years as an educator, I found moments of solace and inspiration in the creative process but never had the time or experience to put pen to paper. Upon retirement, I decided to fully immerse myself in the world of art, channeling my energy and enthusiasm into painting and drawing.
My journey as an artist has been a deeply rewarding exploration of color, form, and emotion. Drawing upon my experiences in education and athletics, I bring a unique perspective to my artwork, infusing it with themes of discipline, perseverance, and the beauty of the human spirit.
Nature, movement, and the human form serve as my primary sources of inspiration. I find inspiration in the intricate patterns of the natural world, the grace of athletes in motion, and the profound connections between mind, body, and soul.
Experimentation and curiosity drive my artistic practice. I work with a variety of mediums, including acrylics, oils watercolors, mixed media and hot beeswax, constantly exploring new techniques and pushing the boundaries of my creativity.
My mission through art is to inspire others to embrace their creativity, follow their passions and find beauty in the world around them. I believe that art has the power to uplift, unite and transform lives and I am committed to sharing my love of art with others.

growth
There is so much to learn as a late-blooming, self-taught artist. Inspired by all subjects that somehow involve a connection to the world we live in - especially people and horses - I'm doing my best to make up for lost time. I hope to have many more years on this earth to nurture my craft.
exploration
I love creating texture in my paintings, so I at times incorporate different elements, including objects I've found - sand, gravel, twigs, for example - while exploring in nature. Although acrylic paint is my preferred medium, I sometimes also mix charcoal, pencil and watercolor into my works.

Present Day
a life of simplicity
As we move through life, we come to value simplicity more than ever. Slowing down, letting go of unnecessary complexity and focusing on what truly matters allows us to spend more time with the people we love. Through all the chapters-adventures in the mountains, raising a family, exploring art, and building a home surrounded by nature – we’ve learned that the greatest joys come from connection, creativity, and the freedom to embrace life at our own pace. Simplifying life isn’t about less – it’s about making room for more: more love, more adventure, more ART, and more time together.

Home in Idaho
Wanting to be near our family, my husband Steve and I moved to Boise after 32 years in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. We love living so close to our mothers, kids, and grandkids. We share our home with a pair of cattle dogs.
Surrounded by mountains, forests, wildlife and water, I find endless inspiration just outside the door! Deer grazing near our cabin, Sandhill Cranes making their unmistakable call, family moments shared in this serene setting all became subjects, textures and stories in my art.
